New Hair Style for a Guy (Current Inside)?

've had long hair for awhile now, I need to change in order to look more respectable, I'm hoping to become supervisor at my job soon. I'd like to go to a medium, or even shorter look, something more controllable, but I can't really think of what to do.

I can dye my hair, cut it in anyway I'd like. Just keep in mind I need to look respectable, and more mature in anyway. Although, I'd like to keep my carefree kind of look. I know it's asking a lot, without giving much, but help me out guys and gals!

I'm 17, and these are a month or so old, I'm cutting it this weekend so what you guys help me decide is happening!
